REMEMBERING CYCLONE TRACY

Cyclone Tracy was Australia’s most devastating Cyclone, flattening Darwin on Christmas Day 1974. Greg Grainger was there, reporting for the Nine Network.

That pic above shows a very intense young Greg interviewing Australia’s greatest leader Gough Whitlam and disasters relief chief Major General Allan Stretton straight afyer the cyclone.

This Christmas marks 50 years since that disaster, with Greg back in Darwin right now presenting a documentary for the Seven Network, CYCLONE WARRIORS which will air this Christmas.

This programme focuses on the rescue and relief effort, paying tribute to the emergency workers, military and police who pitched in to help. Greg is in Darwin for a week interviewing these people.
