COWRA BREAKOUT

80 years ago, the world’s biggest wartime prison outbreak took place in Cowra, central NSW.

In Cowra this year, there were was a big series of events… Peace Bell Ceremonies, Lantern Parades, wreath laying at the Australian and Japanese cemeteries, and a 2am ceremony, timed exactly 80 years to the minute since the original outbreak.

Greg Grainger was honoured to be the presenter at this 2am ceremony, attended by a big crowd including the NSW Governor The Honourable Margaret Beazley and leading Japanese and Australian officials.
